Dorset for Days is, first and foremost, a guide to this beautiful county in southwest England. I’ve lived here for over 12 years, in a tiny cottage clinging to the side of the hill in Shaftesbury, one of the highest towns in the country and home to the famous Gold ‘Hovis’ Hill. Deeply impractical but perfect for two people and a cat, our house rewards us with ever-changing views over the Blackmore Vale, as seen daily on my Instagram stories.
Over the past decade and a half, I’ve gone from a kitten-heel-wearing Saturday-shopping queen to a sea-swimming, coast-path-walking outdoor enthusiast. Walking has saved my sanity, improved my fitness and given me a greater sense of my capabilities, both physically and mentally, than I ever had in my youth. The more I do it, the more I am convinced that the outdoor world holds the secret to a happy, balanced and fulfilling life. This blog shares some of my favourite places, most of them on the Jurassic Coast, and, I hope, might encourage you to get out there and explore some of them too.
